So Russian ships in the Caspian are firing new cruise missiles (which are way overkill for the job) into facilities in Syria owned and provided by the anti-Assad forces funded, trained and supported by the USA, destroying equipment, weapons, ordinance, etc. And yet we are still treating this as ‘coordination’ of ‘allies’ against a ‘common enemy’ (who is ISIS…?). Its clear that Russia is intensifying its activity there to draw US attention away from Ukraine where we have been doing the same, toward hopefully deepening our commitments in the Levant. This would be costly to the USA though we can sustain that if we choose to. But why do we, which creates an artificial vulnerability for the USA (what do we need from there)? The Middle East is a strategic weakness for the USA because our European and Japanese allies need their oil. Geopolitically, this is an artificially created vulnerability for an otherwise powerful nation (I am talking about us). Its THE vulnerability so long as we protect them. Otherwise, we would not be there nor would Russia as it would be a waste of Russian resources to be there too. Countering us is their only reason typically to go anywhere. This is more of the same. Wondering why the media does not understand this. Can you imagine the mature and rational level of political dialog we (still talking about us, btw) would be capable of if the media behaved like and spoke to us like adults? Maybe someday. But clearly not today.

New strikes targeted the group’s main weapons depots in western Aleppo province and completely destroyed them late on Tuesday, its commander Hassan Haj Ali told R
